Obituary

Betty June Albertson, 98, of Lakewood, CO, passed away on July 4, 2026 at The Ridge at Pinehurst in Lakewood, Colorado.

Betty, daughter of the late Gertie and Joe Leng, was born June 24, 1928 in Primghar, Iowa. After high school, Betty went on to graduate from Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa.

Betty married Leon Albertson on November 13, 1949. To this union, three daughters were born:

Vicki Lane, Littleton, Colorado; Cyndie (Mike) Mathews-deceased 2015; Laurie (Larry Jr) Huff, Cumming, Georgia. Betty loved her four grandchildren: Meghan (Brian) Rathbun, Brandon (Jerica) Lane, Larry (Ashley) Huff III, and Levi Huff. It was a happy time when great grandchildren Baylen Rathbun, Camden Rathbun, Mya Huff, and Larry Huff IV joined the family.

Betty and Leon lived on a farm near Primghar, Iowa before moving to Denver, Colorado in 1966.

Faith was the cornerstone of Betty’s life. Her parents instilled this in her life and she passed it on to her family. Friends were very important and she had many. Betty was known for her friendly manner. Betty’s longest employment was 18 years at Northglenn Penneys in the personnel Department. A close second was 17 years volunteering at St. Anthony Hospital. These jobs gave her a chance to be her friendly self.

She loved to spend time with family and friends, golf, travel, and going to the mountains.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Leon (in 2012), her daughter Cyndie (in 2015), and her brother Arnold Leng (in 2025). She is survived by her two daughters, a son in law, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, her brother Gerald Leng, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 6 2026 at 11:00 am at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Broomfield, Colorado. Interment of ashes will be held at a later date at Estes Valley Memorial Gardens in Estes Park, Colorado.

Memorials can be made to the family, which will be contributed to Betty’s multiple charities at a later date.
