Bertice "Bert" J. Saye (80) of Westminster, CO, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on February 2nd, 2026.
Bert was born July 14th, 1945 in Allegan, MI. He worked with his dad and uncle on the farm, and spent many years working at Auto Specialties in Hartford, MI, as a machinist.
In 1983, Bert and his young family relocated to Colorado. This is where he became a semi-truck driver for Pulte Homes/Denpak/Stock Lumber Co. as a specialized wide load truss hauler. After 25 years, he retired in 2007.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Saye, mother, Lela, stepmothers, Dorthea and Virginia, his older sister, Bernadine, and his daughter, Kimberly Dawn.
His is survived by his three sisters: Patricia Gospodinoff, Judith (David) Nelson and Sandra Cassidy.
Bert's unbound love for his wife and family was the essence of his life. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathy. His two daughters Tamberlyn (James) Blue and Michelle (Shannon) Cain. Bert had 6 grandchildren, Nicole (Josh), Heather (Jeremy), James Jr. (Alyssa), Danielle (Jesse), Dillon (Devin), and Brian (Jenna). Along with 9 great-grandchildren, Hailey, Deagan, Keiran, Hans, Ashton, Sage, Alexis, Cole, and Beck.
Bert was a gentle soul, the epitome of kindness. Always greeting even strangers with a hug, lovingly pestering and being a silly joker.
In his younger years, Bert was described by his sisters as a "Rose between Thorns" or a "Thorn between Roses". Bert loved putting a smile on everyone's face, spending time with family, doing puzzles or mind teasers, playing cards, board games, camping, and lending a hand wherever he could. Fond memories of him dancing to "The Twist" and roller skating with Kathy as if the ring was their dance floor.
Though we grieve the passing, we celebrate his life beautifully lived. His legacy is written in the lives he touched, the traditions he's created, and the love that will forever bind this family together.
He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
Please see below for service information. After the funeral service, a reception will follow at the family home. More details will be given at the services.
