Bertha “Betty” Gochenour, age 91, of Federal Heights, CO went home to the Lord on 9 Oct 2024 surrounded by a loving family in their home.
Betty was born on 17 Sep 1933 to Robert A. Choury and Lila Choury (Galvez) in San Luis, CO as 1 of 7 children.
After moving to Denver, CO, she attended West High School where she met her one and only true love, Robert “Bob” Gochenour (deceased). They were married 2 Jul 1950. Together they raised a family in the Shaw Heights (Westminster, CO) area composed of Marty Gochenour, Rod Gochenour (deceased), and Kenny Gochenour.
After a career as a Homemaker, she had a fulfilling 25 year career as a Hallmark Card representative from 1986-2011. It was a fun filled job that allowed her to travel to stock stores all around the area and meet new friends and acquaintances alongside her beloved husband Bob as he struggled with Alzheimers in his latter years. Upon his passing in 2008, and her retirement in 2011, she lived a simple life, tending her garden, enjoying great grandchildren and being fiercely independent up to the time of the Lord’s calling.
She will be remembered by many friends and family as a loving, caring, and easy to talk to person. She was a Cub Scouts Den leader, Grandma, Gramma, Grams, Gramma Bunny, and a second mom to many. She loved watching her loved ones in sports, concerts, and many other organized activities. She also loved to pass her time away pulling the one-armed Penny bandit in Las Vegas and Central City on occasion. Most of all, she loved to travel on many trips in RV’s and Cruise ships with her beloved husband, Bob, and her older sister, Lucille and her husband Adelmo. Occasionally the kids and grandkids got to go too.
She is survived by her sons, Marty (Angie), Kenny (Lisa), grandsons Michael Gochenour (Heather), David Gochenour, granddaughters Kimberly Gochenour (Arielle), and Jennifer Blodgett (Matt) as well as many more great and great-great grandchildren.
In her last few days, surrounded by a loving family, these words from the Gospel were never truer for what she found:
“Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7 NLT
The love she showed to others exemplifies the love from God above and was how she lived her life.
No services are planned at this time at her request.
