A long life, well lived.
Bernard Martin Coyle, 90, of Highlands Ranch, CO passed on March 10, 2024.
Bernard lived his life full of love and humor. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A proud Irishman, both of his parents were born and raised in Ireland. He was the second of four children and was educated in the Philadelphia parochial schools – St. Francis Xavier and St. Clement. He graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic High School for boys. At Villanova he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics with a Pre-Law Major. He received his Master of Science Degree in Business, with accounting emphasis from the University of Northern Colorado. Using this education, he was an oil and gas accountant for several organizations.
Serving was an important part of his life. He was a proud Marine having enlisted and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He also was an active volunteer for many years with both the American Red Cross and the American Legion (Chaplain).
Bernard met the love of his life, Barbara Jo Allen, at the Catholic Alumni Club in Los Angeles, CA. They were married 57 years and were truly an example of love and devotion to each other. Together they had a wonderful family with three children, their lovely spouses and four grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy.
Known for his positive outlook and use of humor, Barney was a fighter having beaten five different kinds of cancer. In the end, it was NOT cancer that took him, his body was just tired and had fought the good fight.
In his 80’s he self-published five books that are available on Amazon around the world. That was Barney… never shying away from a challenge.
He loved his family, chocolate ice cream and making people laugh. Most of all, Barney loved and lived with his whole heart. Everyone who ever met him loved him as his charm, humor, positive outlook and graciousness impacted all that had the pleasure to be in his presence. We were never in any doubt how much he loved each and every one of us.
Bernard is survived his beloved wife, Barbara Jo Coyle, his son Chris Coyle and wife Carlene, Kelly Coyle Wyngarden (grandsons Ryan & Chase Wyngarden), Matt Coyle and wife Britney (granddaughter Emerson, grandson Bowen) and his sister Mary Flanagin (niece Patty and nephew Michael).
In celebration of Bernard’s life we will be saying a funeral rosary and having a celebration of life service/reception on April 5th, 2024 at Horan & McConaty 5303 E County Line Rd, Centennial, CO 80122.
