Bernabe "Bernie" Abade Montoya, a devoted family man, skilled construction worker, and proud US Army veteran, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, at his residence in Denver, Colorado, surrounded by loved ones. Born on November 25, 1942, in Center, Colorado, Bernie’s life was marked by unwavering dedication to his family, faith, and craft.

Bernie built a career as a cement mason in the construction industry, where his hard work and commitment to quality were deeply admired by colleagues and clients alike. Yet, beyond his professional achievements, Bernie’s proudest accomplishments were his enduring family and steadfast faith, which provided him with strength and purpose throughout his life.

His service to our country as a member of the US Army exemplified his character of discipline and honor, traits that he carried into every aspect of his life. Bernie's legacy is one of integrity, resilience, and love.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Brian Montoya.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Gladys June Montoya, who stood faithfully by his side through every chapter of their journey together. He is also lovingly remembered by his children Barbara Vallejos (Phil) and Brenda Espinoza (Billy); grandchildren, and extended family, all of whom carry forward the values and warmth Bernie so generously instilled.
