Barbara Joan Spath

Barbara Joan Spath, a woman whose nurturing spirit and boundless love touched the lives of all who knew her, passed away on May 6, 2025. Born on March 4, 1943, in Denver, Colorado, Barb was the first child of Tim and Birtus Cox.

She grew up in south Denver, and in June 1961, shortly after graduating from South High School, married Jerald Spath. Their life story unfolded in Lakewood, Colorado, where they established their first home in 1963 and created a loving home for the entirety of Barb's life.

Barb's commitment to her faith began in her youth, making the decision to serve God in 1954. This deep devotion permeated every aspect of her life. Her home was a sanctuary, always open to those serving God, and her love extended generously to her family and countless friends. For over six decades, Barb and Jerry's home was a gathering place for Sunday fellowship meetings, a testament to their shared faith and community.

In 1981, Barb embarked on a successful career with the Bureau of Reclamation at the Denver Federal Center. There she advanced quickly from an entry level position and was a valued administrative team member until retirement in 2003. These years enriched her life with many treasured friendships.

Barb's legacy of love and devotion lives on through her husband, Jerry; her children: Pamela (Dwayne) Lewis, and their daughters, Alysia and Danielle; Tim (Chrissy) Spath, and their children Regina (Nick) Nassimbene – along with their children, Bailey and Evan; Chad (Heather) and daughter Maizy; and Lorita (Dave) Harbur, and their children Brannon, Tyler, and Kalei. She is also survived by her sister, Marlene Johnson, and many nieces and nephews. Barb was deeply loved by an extended family and held a special place in the hearts of numerous friends.

In early 2022, Barb faced a significant health challenge, suffering a debilitating stroke. Her husband, Jerry, provided loving in-home care since that time.

Barb's gentle strength, unwavering faith, and capacity for love will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will continue to inspire and bring comfort to her family and friends.
