Barbara Jean, as dad liked to call mom, left this world on May 15, 2022, after many years of failing health, but finally, with complications resulting from Covid; she had just celebrated her 91st birthday on May 6.
Barbara is survived by five of her six children Beverly (Richard), Brookings OR; Roger (Laurie), Mt. Pleasant TX; Phyllis (Steve), Parker CO; Jacqueline (Douglas), Aurora CO; and William (Sherri), Huron MI. She is preceded in death by her husband John V. Skene Sr. (Jack) in September 2010, and her oldest son John in January 1997. She is survived by ten grandchildren Derek, Kristy, Michael, Kavan, Steven, Shelby, Barret, Nicholas, Alyssa and Adriana; nine great-grandchildren, Livia, Kameron, Zachary, Nicolle, Danielle, Jason, Dylan, Laiya and Kysen; six great-great grandchildren Benjamin, Johnathan, Ashton, Noah, Maverick and Emma Rose; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Barbara was born to Emmett Sr. and Florence Morrissey on May 6,1931 in Detroit MI. Barbara had three older brothers, Emmett Jr., James and Joseph, who have preceded her in death; and one younger brother Thomas. She married Jack Skene on September 11, 1948. Jack and Barbara relocated to Aurora CO after retiring in 1988.
Barbara was something of a fire-cracker, she was…and she had a long and pretty lucky little life. She will be loved and missed forever by her family and friends.
