Barbara Ruth Colligan, cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, in Aurora, Colorado. She was 79.
Born in Iowa on October 18, 1945, Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Opal Wayne and Marie Blodwyn (Evans) Frazer, and siblings Betty Jean Harmsen, Robert Wayne Frazer, and Beverly Fern Frazer.
Barbara earned her Bachelor of Arts from William Penn University and later completed her teaching certificate at Colorado State University. Barbara began her career as a teacher before transitioning into legal work, where she became a skilled and dedicated law secretary. She settled in Colorado, living with her sister Bev, and through Bev, she met Michael “Pat” Colligan and embraced a blended family with his three sons. Barbara and Pat later welcomed twin daughters, Dawn and Danielle.
She had a deep love for nature, especially the mountains and night sky, and enjoyed astronomy, puzzles, crochet, music, and heartfelt conversation. A devoted dog lover and warm-hearted friend, Barbara never met a stranger.
She is survived by her daughters, Dawn (Trever) Morgan, and Danielle (Steve) Taglialavore; granddaughters, Autumn and Victoria Morgan. She was also loved by extended family, including stepsons Kevin (Lynne), Keith, and Keir Patrick; Cheri, Debbie, Monica, Laura; and many other Frazer, Cook & Colligan family members and cherished friends.
Barbara will be remembered for her gentle humor, steady presence, and the way she quietly stitched love into the lives of everyone she touched. Her memory is a blessing and her legacy lives on in the many hearts she held dear.
Barbara’s favorite color was blue. If you feel moved to do so, we invite guests to wear blue to the service in her honor.
Memorial services will take place on Sunday, August 17th, at 2:30 p.m. at Horan & McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, CO 80014. A reception with light refreshments will immediately follow.
