Audrey L. (Gilder) Lucke passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, at the age of 93, surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted and wonderful mother to her two daughters, Denise Sawyer and her husband, Jim, and Teri Weiher and her husband, Brian. She was also a cherished grandmother to Blake and Cassidy Weiher, who brought her great joy and even more laughs.
Audrey was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 8, 1933. She grew up with her beloved brother, Vince Gilder, who passed away at the young age of 47. As a young woman, Audrey set out for San Francisco with dreams of raising St. Bernards, planning only a brief stop in Denver, Colorado, to visit friends. That stop changed the course of her life. She met and fell in love with a strapping young man named Don Lucke, and the two were married on September 23, 1961.
Together, Audrey and Don built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, friendship, and a robust social life. After Don’s passing in 2010, Audrey continued to embrace life with grace and curiosity. She began taking piano lessons, rekindling her love of music, and found happiness in time spent with her family & grandchildren, staying active, and enjoying the company of her amazing friends.
Audrey especially enjoyed working out and socializing (more socializing than working out!) at The MAC Recreation Center in Westminster, Colorado. She often spoke with gratitude about the incredible staff there and the many wonderful friends she made. She was a leader of the Widow’s Group, a support group for widow’s who met twice a month at The MAC. Audrey was known for her bright smile, her love of life and her ability to find humor in each moment.
Audrey will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will remember her smiling, laughing, enjoying a good meal, raising a glass of wine, and making every gathering a little brighter. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, laughter, strength, and joy. Heaven gained a good one and all who knew her are better for having had her in our lives. We love you, Mom/Grandma.
