Audrey J. Doud, 87, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away June 21, 2019. She was born November 2, 1931 in Salisbury, Wilts, England to Hubert Roland and Alice Louisa Targett.
Audrey attended 14 years of school pursuing a degree but had to drop out after her father passed away; she worked in a carpet factory for a short while. She meet Bob a military man while at a U.S.O. function, and from there a romance blossomed; after a brief courtship the two were wed. Audrey married Robert E. Doud May 17, 1952 in Salisbury, England. They became new parents shortly afterwards with the birth of their daughter Beverlee. A little over a year after their first child was born, Bob got orders to move back to the states and Audrey moved away from her family and friends for the first time.
After moving stateside to California, a son Stephen was born, then another move to Hawaii where two daughters were born Tracy and then Kim. Another move to Nebraska before moving overseas again to Germany where a fifth child Andrew was born. Three in a half years later another move stateside to Idaho where after 20 years of service Bob decided to retire from military life, so a final move to Colorado where life together took on a more natural rhythm. It must be said that Audrey became a naturalized citizen after moving to this country, of which she was very proud and patriotic. She felt very much at home in the U.S.A.
Audrey was a full time mother of five for 15 years before entering the workforce until she retired at the age of 63 from a major luggage company. Where upon she and Robert traveled to many local American destinations and to European destinations. After Robertsâs death Audrey traveled with friends to many global destinations both on cruises, and planned tours. She saw many a great and interesting country, history, and cultures from China, on up to Russia and the Nordic countries in her travels. Also trips with her girls to various locations; as well as trips to see her sonâs children.
Audrey was interested in art and painted many pictures over the years. Audrey gave in service as a volunteer to many local government and private business, as well as helping at her church. She was interested in reading (book club) as well as participating in senior organizations focused of life-long learning, active lifestyle and discussions of current events, and educational seminars, including local outings. In addition Audrey joined the Red-Hats for a short while. Most important Audrey was very interested in her children and grand childrenâs lives and was sure to send a birthday card to acknowledge how important her legacy was to her.
Audrey is survived by her children daughters, Tracy (Robert) Welpton; and Kim (Lonnie) Kerbs; and her son Stephen (Jean) Doud; and a step son Dietmar (Angelica) Dannenberg Doud; as well as 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert; two children Beverlee and Andrew; parents Hubert and Alice; and by her sibling Dennis.
A private Memorial service has already been held.
A public Graveside service will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 12:00 PM, at Fairmount Cemetery, 430 S. Quebec Street, Denver, CO 80247. Please gather at 11:45am, in area âBâ which is located just inside the Cemetery gate off Alameda.
