Arthur R. Savaria Age 89 died in Aurora Colorado on August 4th 2025. He was a graduate of Cole Trade High School in Southbridge in 1954. He went on to serve 2 years in The Army National Guard before enlisting in the Navy. He was stationed on the aircraft carrier, USS Lake Champlain which toured overseas in the Mediterranean. After serving 4 years in the Navy, he enlisted in the Air Force to serve another four years. After being discharged he was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 35 years as a sheet Metalist and then in quality control.
After retirement, he moved to Florida where he lived for 17 years enjoying the warm weather and spending time at the beach fishing. He moved to Colorado in July of 2022 to live with his daughter, Melanie and daughter-in-law, Kathy Elson. He went on many adventures in Colorado exploring the mountains and especially loved going to the Rocky Mountain National Park and also the Rocky Mountain Arsenal where he loved seeing the Buffaloes and wildlife.
He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He enjoyed watching old movies and his favorite tv show was MASH. He loved technology and enjoyed keeping up with the latest computers throughout the years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Valmore and Aurore Savaria and his son, Arthur Savaria Jr.
He is survived by his sister, Elaine Garofalo; his sons, Marc and his wife Kim, Matthew and his wife, Gretchen. His daughters, Michelle and Melanie and her wife, Katherine; his grandchildren, Andrew and his wife Emily and great grandchildren, Reese and Bennet; Amy and her husband Christopher, and Alexander. His niece, Tracey Garofalo-Kosar and nephew, Robert Garofalo, cousins and many friends.
There will be a private burial in Massachusetts at a later date. In lieu of flowers to donate to any humane society or a charity of your choice.
