Arlene was born to Edmund and Rose Wieneke in the hard working farming community of Lismore Minnesota. She had 10 brothers and sisters of whom she was the oldest. They are Carl, Elmer, Frank, Harold, Herman, Jake, Jerome, Lois and Ray.
She married Ron Steen of Jasper Minnesota and then moved to Colorado where he worked as an engineer at Martin Marietta and she was a homemaker. They had two children Tom and Pam. Later when her children were grown she used her excellent cooking skills to work as a cook.
Arlene had several things she was passionate about in particular music (Elvis), decorating her home for holidays, dancing, football (Broncos) and her flowers in the summer.
In spite of having moved away from her family in Minnesota 60 years before, she always felt highly connected to what she referred to as the âfarmâ and her parents and siblings.
