Antonio Domingo Muniz

Mar 6, 1936 — Jun 12, 2026

Commerce City, CO

Antonio (Tony) D. Muniz, 90, of Commerce City, Colorado, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, June 12, 2026.

Antonio was born in Llano, New Mexico, on March 6, 1936, to Herculano and Abelina Muniz. As a young boy he moved with his family to Brighton, Colorado, and attended Brighton Junior High School. He began his career as a skilled laborer shortly after graduating. He dedicated his career to Newstrom and Davis Construction Company where he had a hand in building and renovating many buildings throughout Colorado, including several jails, the Tabor Opera House in Leadville, Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Planet Hollywood in Aspen, The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, and Mile High Stadium and the Denver Auditorium Arena. He retired from Newstrom and Davis after 40 years in 1998. It was during the Denver Auditorium renovations that he found his love for watching wrestling with wrestlers like Vern Gagne, Dick the Bruiser, and Madog Vachon. He was also a huge Denver Bronco fan, always saying his Broncos were going to the Super Bowl every year. He loved camping and fishing up in Halfmoon in Leadville; and, he found a “primo” in everyone he met. His parents were Spanish Assembly of God pastors and he attended their church, El Sendero de la Cruz. He was baptized at New Destiny Church in 2008.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 71 years, Teresa Rose Muniz of Commerce City; daughters Darlene Muniz of Thornton and June (Muniz) Younger of Commerce City; son-in-law Troy Younger of Commerce City; grandsons Stephen Younger of Thornton and Joshua Younger of Commerce City; granddaughter Amy Younger of Commerce City; brother Orlando Muniz of Brighton; and, numerous other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Diane; his parents, Pastor Herculano and Abelina (Sanchez) Muniz; brother Jose; and, sisters Bernie, Placida, Priscilla and Bertha.
