In Loving Memory of Antonia Padilla

Antonia Padilla, a beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, was born on May 15, 1942, in Denver, Colorado. She lived a life defined by family, hard work, generosity, and a genuine love for the people around her. Antonia and her husband, John, were high school sweethearts. Their love began when they were young and grew into a lifelong partnership. They built a life together centered around family, friendship, and shared experiences. After John passed away in 2021, Antonia carried their memories with her and remained surrounded by the family and loved ones they had built their lives around.

Antonia retired in 2005 from Norgren, where she proudly worked for 27 years. At both American Stencil, her first job, and later at Norgren, she had the special opportunity to work alongside her sister, Vangie. Their bond extended far beyond the workplace and remained an important part of Antonia’s life. After John passed away in 2021, Antonia and her sister Vangie became even closer. They created their own special tradition of taking weekly trips together to Walmart or the grocery store. What may have seemed like an ordinary errand became cherished time for two sisters to talk, laugh, and simply enjoy being together.

Antonia was incredibly talented and resourceful. She had a gift for sewing and creating things with her hands. She was always willing to use her talents to help the people she loved. She also believed in giving back. Antonia was active in various volunteer activities with GI Forum, often alongside her husband John. Where you saw one, you could almost always find the other. Their partnership and devotion to each other were a beautiful reflection of the life they shared.

  • Family was at the center of Antonia’s world, and her children, Denise and Denise's spouse Jophie and Jay and Jay’s late wife MJ; her grandchildren, Joe, Grace and Sloane. They were the greatest sources of pride and joy in her life. She loved them deeply and unconditionally, always supporting them, encouraging them, and making sure they knew they were never alone. She celebrated their accomplishments, stood beside them through difficult times, and found happiness in the everyday moments they shared. Her love for her children and grandchildren was steady, selfless, and everlasting—the kind of love that shaped every part of her life. Her nephew, Steve Quintana was like another son, and was also deeply loved and cherished by Antonia. She cared for him with the same warmth and devotion she showed to those closest to her. She was proud of him, enjoyed having him in her life, and treasured the special bond they shared. Steve brought her happiness, and she made sure he always knew how much he meant to her.

Antonia was blessed to be born to a large family who she loved very much. Her mother Flora, and Father Pete; her sisters, Rita, Lorraine, Mary and Vangie; and her brothers, Billy, Rick and Bob. She loved road trips, camping, and cooking, but what made those experiences especially special was that she always included the family. She made room for everyone. She had a wonderful way of making family feel like they were always welcome and always part of the fun.

Antonia was also one of the most thoughtful people you could know. She had a way of making people feel remembered and loved. Even when she was sick, she never forgot the people who mattered to her. Antonia leaves behind a legacy of love, family, hard work, generosity, and cherished memories. She showed her love not only through words, but through everything she did for others—a repaired shirt, a handmade piece of clothing, a birthday card, a family outing, or simply being there when someone needed her.

Her love story with John, her lifelong bond with Vangie, and the deep love she shared with Denise, Jay, Jophie, MJ, Steve, Joe, Grace, Sloane, and so many other family members will forever remain part of her legacy. The love she gave was a reflection of who she was: devoted, generous, protective, and always present. Her family was her greatest joy, and the love she poured into them will continue through every memory, tradition, and story they share.
