Anne Witte Curran

Anne Witte Curran, a devoted wife, mother, educator, and community leader, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026 at the age of 86.

Born on June 8, 1940, in Fremont, Nebraska, Anne lived a life defined by service, grace, and a deep commitment to her family, faith, and community. She began her college education at Principia College in St. Louis in 1958 before transferring to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where she graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. A proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Anne was initiated in the spring of 1961 and remained a devoted alumna throughout her life. During her senior year, she was honored as Miss Cornhusker in the fall of 1961 and was presented as a countess at the Aksarben Ball on October 21 of that year.

After graduation, Anne moved to Denver, Colorado, to begin her career as a second-grade teacher. It was in Colorado that she met the love of her life, Francis Jerome Curran. The two were married on August 15, 1964, and together raised two daughters, Althea and Laura, with warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support and love.

Anne’s contributions to the Denver community were both impactful and enduring. She served on the Executive Board of the Junior League of Denver, was President of the Denver Ballet Guild in 1994, and chaired Denver’s esteemed Le Bal de Ballet. In 1988, she brought the Young Men of Distinction program to Denver, complementing the Guild’s recognition of outstanding young women and further strengthening opportunities for youth in the city.

A lifelong Christian Scientist, Anne was a dedicated member of First Church of Christ Scientist in Littleton, where she served as First Reader, floral arranger, and a member of the executive board.

Her passion for leadership and service extended to numerous organizations. She was President of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Denver Alumnae Association, the Tuesday Morning Class, and Families First. In 1992, she chaired the celebrated Book and Author Dinner. Anne also served on the board of the Central City Opera, where she combined her love of the arts with her commitment to civic engagement.

Anne was a woman of elegance, intelligence, and quiet strength. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and tireless volunteerism leaves an indelible mark on the many lives she touched. She remained an active and loyal member of Kappa Kappa Gamma for over 65 years.

Anne is survived by her beloved husband, Jerry; her daughters, Althea and Laura; and her cherished grandchildren, Bret, Thomas, Anna, Tyler, Elizabeth, and Lily. She also leaves behind a wide circle of friends and community members who cherished her deeply.

Her life was a beautiful testament to the power of service, love, and grace. She will be profoundly missed.
