Anna Elizabeth Hicks, 82, died on October, 22, 2026 surrounded by members of her immediate family, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, and moved to New York to be with her family who had escaped Soviet occupation. While in New York, she met and married her husband, Raymond. She and her husband moved to California, where she obtained her college degree from California State University Northridge and started a family. Her oldest son Christopher, and then Matthew, were born and raised in Southern California, while she worked as a phlebotomist and lab technician. After working thirty years as a supervisor at Northridge Hospital, she eventually moved back to New York with her husband, and continued to work full-time as a lab technician for international company Fresenius, two months past her 82nd birthday. After her husband passed away, she moved to Denver, Colorado to live with her oldest son and his wife Christena.
She was an avid patriot and loved her adopted country, as well as loved her dogs and cats over the years, including her beloved German Sheperd Sammy, and considered herself a “foodie.” She loved watching classic movies and cooking for her workmates.
She was very proud of her two sons, who carried on her very dedicated work ethic.
She is survived by her son Christopher and his wife Christena, son Matthew and his wife Maria, of Sunset Beach, California, and two grandsons Trevor and Evan, both college students in California.
