While it’s challenging to briefly summarize what Ann meant to those who loved her, we can start with what a truly extraordinary daughter, wife, mother and mother-in-law, grandmother, sister and friend she was—touching everyone with her sweet and caring nature.
Ann’s life was focused on family—both the family in which she grew up and the one she created here in Denver with her husband, Gus. Ann was raised in Denver as the youngest of four siblings and was raised by her kind and gregarious mother, Mary Plank. After marrying Gus in 1961, they were shortly thereafter joined by daughter, Lynn, and son, John. Later came grandchildren, Jameson and Audrey. Ann never missed a sporting event or dance recital in which her kids and granddaughter participated.
Ann exuded kindness and love, as well as generosity and a great sense of humor. As a devoted Catholic, she lived her faith in God by example. Her soft-spoken nature belied a strength exhibited time and again as she battled breast cancer. She quietly and bravely exemplified the definition of tenacity.
Ann built a foundation for her family and friends as the consummate host who loved to entertain at her home, filling weekends with family and friends. She created such an idyllic childhood for her kids, they remember it much like a Norman Rockwell painting. While her passing has created a void that can never be filled, she created countless treasured memories that will continue to bring humor, happiness, wisdom, courage and comfort.
Ann is preceded in death by her wonderful husband of 50 years, Gus Gossett; her mother Mary Plank; brother Joe Plank and his wife Ann; sister Paula Little and her husband David; brother-in-law Karl Chambers; sister-in-law Maxine Noller; and her grandson, Jameson Gossett. She is survived by her daughter Lynn (Bob) Kubiak; son John (Wendy) Gossett; granddaughter Audrey Gossett; brother Leonard Plank and his wife Pat; sister Kathleen Chambers; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
