Anita Isabelle Valdez, 96, of Lakewood, Colorado passed away peacefully on January 22, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. Anita was born in Denver, Colorado on September 11, 1926 to Elmer and Frances Tenorio. She married Benjamin Valdez on Valentine's Day February 14, 1941 and they spent the next 76 years together before Ben's death in 2017 at 95 years old. Anita worked as a waitress at the Brown Palace Hotel for 27 ½ years before retiring. She was a devout catholic and her family was the most important thing to her. After raising her own four children she then raised several grandchildren and baby sat numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed gambling (the dog races and going to Las Vegas and Blackhawk), and cooking. She was an excellent cook and made the most fantastic meals especially during the holidays and for weddings. Anita was an entrepreneur and had her own cake decorating business for many years.
Anita is survived by her children Patricia Vigil, Donna (Sam) Medina, Leroy (Marie) Moya, Mark (Patricia) Moya, Eddie Maes; sister Henrietta (Bob) Lucero; grandchildren Rodney (Renee) Valdez, Troy (Brenda) Valdez, Randy (Nancy) Reister, Andrea Martinez, Sammy (Amber) Medina, Larry Medina; numerous great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her loving husband Benjamin Valdez; children Barbara Valdez, Ben "Bugs" Valdez; daughter-in-law Connie Valdez; son-in-law J.C. Vigil; granddaughter Marissa Moya; sisters, Stella, Louise, Aurora, Marie; brother Elmer.
Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m on Tuesday, January 31st at All Saints Catholic Church, 2559 S. Federal Blvd. with Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Internment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery 12801 W. 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO.
