Andrew Anderson

June 4, 1950 — March 27, 2021

Fort Collins

Andrew (Andy) Gordon Anderson, 70, of Fort Collins passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Atria Westminster.  Born on June 4, 1950, the son of Clarence Orville and Irene Cecilia (McCallum) Anderson.  Andy married Mary Lynn Loveless on October 16th, 1971 and together they shared over 46 years of marriage until her passing in 2018.

Andy worked as a software engineer for many different companies that were lucky to have his talent on their team.  He loved family, laughing, drumming, Tae Kwon Do, RC models, and Maui, and seemed to be happiest helping those around him live their best life.  While a youngster, Andy was recognized by Vice President Hubert Humphrey in his home state of Minnesota as a four-time gymnastics champion. He was an incredibly talented and professional drummer for many years and for many bands.  He was a savant of software engineering, being able to “speak” directly to machines.  Andy was scouted by HP for his grad-student project at the University of Minnesota, where he wrote the memory management system for Hewlett Packard's Unix software version still in use today.

He will be remembered for his generosity, the example he set of effort and excellence, his incredible laugh, sense of humor and amazing smile, his positive attitude, and his passion for life.

Andrew is survived by his son, Luke Anderson and his wife Katie Anderson, his daughter, Carrie Devlin and her husband Chad Devlin, his grandchildren, Brady and Cora Anderson and Harper and Henley Devlin, his sister, Betty Phagan and his brother, Mike Anderson.

Private interment with his beloved Mary.  A celebration of Andy's life will be held at a later date, when friends and family can travel with fewer concerns.
