Andrew "A.J." Barbato

Andrew (A.J.) Barbato of Centennial passed away on October 10, 2023. While A.J. left the world too soon, he touched the lives of many. 

A.J. was born on August 29, 1976, in Denver, Colorado. He attended Dry Creek Elementary School, Campus Middle Unit, Regis High School, and graduated from Cherry Creek High School. A.J. worked for many local establishments through the years, keeping up with neighbors and classmates at Paul’s Place, the Danish bakery on Arapahoe, Garcia’s, and most recently at All Season’s Rent-All. He worked hard, rarely passing up a chance for overtime, and always trying to bring a smile to coworkers’ and customers’ faces with his quirky sense of humor and the little things he noticed in the world. 

He was a self-ascribed, life-long learner at the University of Imagination. He regularly stopped to snap pictures of little bits of beauty he came across such as a bright red tulip peeking through snow, his beloved horse, Nova, and little dog Lola.

He enjoyed car shows, Boz Scaggs and other country/western and bluegrass artists, and Beau Jo’s in Idaho Springs (one of his favorite places to be). 

A.J. is survived by his mom, Ellen, siblings Thomas, Julie (Doug), Briana (Jesse), and nephew Ty. He was preceded in death by his dad, Lew. He also leaves behind his girlfriend, Jessica Camunez, and friends from all walks of life.

His funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas More in Centennial, CO on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 11am. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to organizations that support animals.
