Anders Corell died peacefully of natural causes on July 26, 2026 in Centennial, Colorado at age 102.
Anders was born in a farming community near Stockholm, Sweden in 1923, the fourth of five children. He was gifted in science and math and, with his parents' encouragement, he bypassed studies in agricultural management and earned a degree in mechanical engineering. During WWII, he served in the Swedish Coast Guard, where he manned a coastal defense artillery battery in southern Sweden.
In 1946, Anders emigrated to the United States, arriving in Chicago, where he met his future wife Ruth Glaza. In the decades following, Anders embarked upon a lengthy career in aerospace engineering, primarily with Martin Marietta. He and Ruth raised four children in Littleton, and the family often spent weekends and vacations in the mountains, camping, fishing, hiking, and enjoying the outdoor life. He was still hiking in the mountains with his children in his late 80's. Anders was an energetic man who never sat still for very long. He loved tinkering, especially on old cars and old motorhomes!
Anders was preceded in death by his first wife Ruth, and by his second wife Barbara Robertson. Both marriages were long and happy, and both women shared his love of music, dancing, bridge & travel. Anders was a gracious and courteous man who had a cheerful outlook on life, right up until the day of his death.
Anders is survived by his four children Kris O’Driscoll (Lee), Stieg Corell, Karin Stauter, & Liz Corell, as well as Barbara's son Larry Robertson. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Anders was his family's last survivor of that generation, and he will be remembered and missed by many people, including his nieces and nephews in Sweden and France.
