Amii Lynn Rasmussen was born on January 18, 1965, to Loyd and Sharon Greenlee in Vallejo, CA. She passed away on June 12, 2024 in Lone Tree, CO at 59 years old. Amii graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1987 with a Bachelor's degree in International Business and transportation. She worked for a local transportation company as a sales representative for several years after she graduated. She met William when she was 15 years old, in Bird City, Kansas at a Church Convention. Even though they had lived on opposite sides of Denver, they never met until they ended up in the middle of Kansas. They dated for 7 years, and after Amii finished college, she planned on going to France for an internship, unless William were to pop the question. They got engaged after that conversation in June 1987, at the Broker restaurant in Boulder, CO.
William and Amii got married on June 4th, 1988 at the Manor House in Littleton, CO. They honeymooned in Denmark and Germany, and lived in an apartment in Aurora for a year. They then moved to their current house in Highlands Ranch in 1989, where Amii worked for Wright Travel, and had hopes of soon starting a family. After 10 years of facing infertility, many in vitro trials, several failed local and international adoptions, William and Amii decided to take a trip to get away to the East Coast. After they returned, Mary Saltsman reached out to them to ask if they would adopt her great grandsons, Cole and Drew. Finally, in 1997, William and Amii became parents of a 14 month old and 2 1/2 year old. While William and Amii loved their two boys, they always had interest in having a little girl. They began to pursue Chinese adoption as soon as they were old enough. After lots of paperwork, William and Amii flew to China in January 2002, where they adopted Jade. While in China, William was holding baby Jade and said “I feel like the family is complete,” but at that moment Amii felt that there was another baby girl in China waiting for her, and kept that thought to herself. After a year or so, Bill wrote on Amii’s birthday card, “Congratulations, it’s a girl.” Soon after, they started on the paperwork for another Chinese adoption. Their close friends, who they met on their first trip to China, had mentioned that if Bill and Amii went back to China, they would go and get another girl as well. Asia was adopted in April 2004, and their friends Dean and Kelly adopted Laney. Jade then had a little sister to hold and love, and Dean and Kelly’s first daughter Ali, did too.
In 2008, Amii started her own travel agency, called Dazzling Destinations. Through owning her own business, she was able to travel the world with her family and help others go on their dream vacations.
Amii’s faith in God was the driving force that allowed her to navigate the many difficult trials in the pursuit of a family, leading through the rest of her life, and onto the final years of battling ovarian cancer. She fought with grace and determination, not letting the diagnosis stop her from loving everyone and every opportunity that came her way.
Amii is survived by her loving husband, William, children Cole Rasmussen, Drew Rasmussen (Elizabeth), Jade Hartsuiker (Keith) and Asia Rasmussen, four grandchildren, Judah, Levi, Asher and Benjamin Rasmussen, her father, Loyd Greenlee, and brothers Douglas and Nathan Greenlee. She was preceded by her mother Sharon Greenlee.
