Allan "Skip" Hlad of Littleton, CO passed away on January 20 leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and quiet strength.
Skip was born on February 7, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois.
Skip was good husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor, known for his integrity, kindness, and calm, steady presence. In every role he filled, Skip exemplified what it meant to be a genuinely good person.
A proud patriot, Skip deeply loved his country and held special respect for veterans who served and continue to serve. He stood for the National Anthem without exception and proudly flew the American flag at his home. He was especially inspired by his brother, Ronald Hlad, a Vietnam veteran, whose service he greatly admired.
Skip found peace and fulfillment in the outdoors. An avid skier, he loved the Colorado mountains and cherished the freedom and serenity they provided. He was also a lifelong motorcyclist who shared decades of riding and adventure with close friends throughout Colorado, Utah, and Baja.
Professionally, Skip was an exceptional engineer who spent many years with the Colorado Department of Transportation and later AECOM. He was known for his commitment to excellence and took pride in completing work on time, on budget, and to the highest engineering standards. He was also a loyal Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies fan.
Skip enjoyed life's simple pleasures, including time shared with family and friends, spending time outdoors in the mountains and at the beach and sharing a cold Coors Light-often at Old Chicago, where he proudly earned Mug #50. He approached life with humor and humility, including his self-proclaimed golfing skills.
Above all, Skip will be remembered for his gentle spirit, sense of humor, and ability to enjoy life without taking it too seriously. He lived fully, loved deeply, and leaves behind a lasting legacy of goodness.
Skip was preceded in death by Clarence Hlad, Maxine Hlad, Douglas Hlad and Randy Hlad.
He is survived by his loving spouse, Anne Hlad; his son, Jeffrey Hlad; his grandchildren, Sofia Hlad and Beckett Hlad; his brother, Ronald Hlad, and sister-in-law Betty Hlad; his sister, Cindy Myers, and brother-in-law Dave Myers; and his nieces Tammy and Mike Boenne and family, Michelle and Bill Frantal and family, Karen and Mitch Mannino and family and Amy Hlad.
In keeping with Skip's wishes, a private remembrance will be held for family and close friends.
