Alice Pauline McNew Richards

September 1, 1923 — July 9, 2017

Alice McNew Richards, age 93, peacefully went home to be with Jesus on July 9, 2017 in Littleton, Colorado. She was born in Lamesa, Texas on September 1, 1923 to Joe and Anna Barkowsky McNew. She graduated from Klondike and married Elbert Richards March 16, 1943. She traveled with him when possible during WWII as he served in the US Army. Alice is survived by her son Max Richards, daughter-in-law Rita Richards, daughter Della Porter, son-in-law George Porter, three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Elbert and Alice were members of Klondike Baptist Church until they moved to Lamesa in 1979 when they joined Second Baptist Church. Alice aspired to be a good and faithful servant to her Savior by working in the church as a teacher, serving as a WMU leader, teaching her children and grandchildren to love Jesus, in addition to lending a helping hand to anyone in need. A visitation will take place on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road, Centennial, CO 80122. Visitation will be held Monday July 17, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home 403 N. Austin Ave. Lamesa, TX 79331. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church in Lamesa, TX with Pastor Tobey Clements officiating. Interment will follow in Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. The family suggests donations to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
