We have another Angel in Heaven. Alice Marie Knowles, age 91, died at MorningStar, Senior Living Center, Littleton, Colorado on Monday, September 23rd.
Alice was born on August 11, 1933 in Long Beach, California. She was an only child until her sister, Sandy, came along 6 years later. Her family was very active in the Methodist Church where they all sang in the choir. She attended Woodrow Wilson High School where she was very active as a song leader, in theatre productions, student government and working part time at the Bank of America starting at age 17.
After High School, Alice started working full time at the Bank of America. She soon married Harry Knowles who she had known since Jr. High. He had just returned from the Korean War. Alice and Harry had two children, Debbie and Eddie and raised their family in Garden Grove, California. Family and extended family was everything to them.
Alice continued with the Bank of America until 1981 when she followed her children and grandchildren to Denver, Colorado. She then worked at the Manville Credit Union as a loan officer until her retirement at the age of 64. She was beloved by all her colleagues and customers. She was an amazing mom, grandma, aunt, great-grandma and great-great-grandma. Alice lost her beloved husband, Harry, in 2020 and then her precious dog, Skippy, in 2022. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Hilda and Marshall Snebly and sister, Sandy Brooks. Alice is a cancer survivor and survived 2 hip surgeries at the age of 89. She’s tougher than she looks. She has been living at MorningStar since June 2023. Alice is survived by her daughter, Debbie Wright, son-in-law, Bob Wright, son Ed Knowles, daughter-in-law, Jan Knowles, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews along with their children and grandchildren.
Funeral Services will take place at Horan & McConaty, Lakewood, CO on Tuesday, October 1st at 6:30pm. Burial Service will be at Forest Lawn, Cypress, California.
