In Loving Memory of
Alfred Louis Ballabio Jr. January 17, 1934 – April 27, 2025 and Kathryn Kiernan Ballabio May 5, 1939 – August 25, 2024
Together in life, together in rest.
It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved parents, Alfred Louis Ballabio Jr. and Kathryn Kiernan Ballabio, whose enduring bond and devotion to family were at the heart of everything they did.
Kathryn was born on May 5, 1939, in Jamaica, Queens, and passed away on August 25, 2024, at the age of 85 in Thornton, Colorado. Alfred was born on January 17, 1934, in Paramus, New Jersey, and passed away on April 27, 2025, at the age of 91, also in Thornton.
Married on October 22, 1960, Alfred and Kathryn shared over 64 beautiful years together. They made their home in Wyckoff, New Jersey, where they lived for more than 40 years, raising their family and creating a life filled with love, hard work, and community. After retirement, they moved to Woolwich, New Jersey, and in 2020, they relocated to Thornton, Colorado to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Alfred was a proud graduate of the Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy and served overseas in the United States Navy aboard an aircraft carrier. He had a lifelong love of cooking and gardening, and was known for his warmth with animals and his dedication to cycling—spending countless hours on his bike well into his later years. His curiosity, gentle kindness, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Kathryn was the heart of the home, known for her exceptional cooking and baking, and her love of entertaining. She found joy in bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome. Time spent with friends and family was her greatest joy, and she was immensely proud of her Irish heritage, which she celebrated with heart and humor. Her warmth, elegance, and deep care for others enriched every room she entered.
They are survived by their four children:
They were cherished grandparents to Fred Ballabio, Nick Ballabio, Kaitlyn Baker, and Gigi Rubino. They had a soft spot for their furry friends, Annie, Jasper & Sammy, treating each and every one like the valuable family member they were.
A joint memorial service will be held to celebrate their lives and legacy. Details will be shared with friends and loved ones in the coming days. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in their honor to a cause close to your heart.
Alfred and Kathryn will be forever missed and remembered with endless love, gratitude, and admiration for the lives they lived and the love they gave.
