It is with heavy hearts we say goodbye to our brother Al Grinestaff. Al passed away peacefully at his home on July 23, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's and heart disease.
Al was born in Lafayette, Colorado on November 4th, 1946. He was one in a family of eight children.
Al worked in the transportation industry. He was a dispatcher and also resolved insurance claims. After retiring, he had a transportation business of his own.
His hobbies were cooking and entertaining friends, traveling, hiking, going to plays and operas, flower gardening and joining friends at Pridefest. Al enjoyed collecting beautiful paintings and treasures throughout the years. Al also loved and enjoyed walking his pets that he had over the years.
"Simple" was not a work in Al's vocabulary. It was always "Go big" or "Go home". If he bought you a gift, prepare yourself for something elaborate.
He was a very caring and giving person with a big heart. He saw good in everyone. He was very blessed to have many friends who he considered to be his family. He donated to many charities. He was a devoted member od Saint Andrews Episcopal Church. Al's loving friend and husband for 37 years passed away in January of 2024.
Al is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, nieces and nephews and cousins who will miss him.
