Alexander Nicholas Welch, 31, affectionately known as "Alex", "Brother”, “Daddy” or “Snicklefritz” passed away tragically on June 18, 2025. Born on August 16, 1993, he lived in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Alexander’s vibrant life ended much too soon in a rock-climbing accident, a sport he dearly loved, where he found joy, adventure, and freedom.
Alexander was the beloved son of Doug and Laurie Welch, who survive him, and an inspiration and guiding force in the life of his young son, Hudson. He cherished his role as a father, and often shared with friends and family that becoming Hudson’s Dad was his single greatest accomplishment in life.
In addition to his devoted parents and precious son Hudson, Alexander leaves behind a loving sister, Catherine (Matt), as well as grandparents Louie and Bev Welch, Bob and Mary Lyons, and Pat Curry. Also many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins: Rick Welch (Kim), Brenden Welch, Reid Welch, Julie Heien (Bob), Zack Heien (Annie), Tia Heien, Greg Welch (Lesley), Dustin Welch, Justin Welch, Stacey Thomas (Randy), Lisa Czupka (Tim), Penny Jasman (Arnie), Arnie Jasman (Amy), Lisa Jasman, Tricia Eacret (Tim), David Lyman (Jill), Barb Parks, Tony Parks, Erin Parks, Bailey Berg (Terry), Mark Curry (Kerrie), Brandon Curry (Lyndi), Lacey Curry (Chris Anderson), and girlfriend Ashley Craven. He is preceded in death by his Grandpa Bob Curry and Uncle Steve Parks.
Alexander graduated from Highlands Ranch High School in 2012. He attended Florida College of Natural Health, where he earned his Massage Therapeutic License in 2014. He then pursued higher education, graduating from Colorado Mesa University with a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology, specializing in Health Promotion and Fitness in 2017. For Alexander, this was not just education, it was part of his personal mission to encourage well-being and healthy living in those around him.
His childhood and teenage achievements reflected his commitment, strength of character, and leadership at an early age: Alexander earned the Eagle Scout rank, the highest honor attainable in the Boy Scouts of America program. This prestigious achievement places him among a rare four to five percent of scouts nationwide who have earned this distinction since 1911.
Alexander’s professional life reflected his dedication to nurturing others, including certification as a Large Center Childcare Director and a certified Rock Climbing Belayer. He also opened his own Massage Therapy called Tranquil Mesa Massage.
Friends and family universally recall Alexander’s adventurous spirit, infectious smile, genuine love for others, and effortless knack for friendship. He was outgoing and truly no one was ever a stranger in his presence. Alexander possessed a loyal nature that made him a trusted friend and offered support and kindness for disadvantaged people and animals alike, without hesitation. He was a proud supporter and participant of Unified Athletics during high school.
His passions and interests were boundless, including soccer—both as an athlete in high school and recreational leagues and as Hudson's dedicated soccer coach. He reveled in attending live concerts and music festivals, along with camping, hiking, snowboarding, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and rock climbing. Alexander embraced life fully and was authentic to himself with an adventurous spirit. More than anything, he lived life to bring as much joy to Hudson as he could. He loved watching Hudson experience Cub Scouts, soccer, and every thrill ride at Elitch Gardens.
As we reflect on his beautiful life, we remember one of Alexander’s guiding sentiments: "Never regret a day in your life: good days give happiness, bad days give experience, worse days give lessons, and best days give memories." In remembering Alexander Nicholas Welch, we honor his life by living each day with kindness, enthusiasm, and a spirit of adventure, just as he generously shared with everyone he met.
