Alexander "Alex" Gene Lunsford

In Loving Memory of Alexander Gene Lunsford
Alexander Gene Lunsford, affectionately known as Alex, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2023, age 87, in Lakewood, Colorado, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on May 21, 1936, Alex's life was characterized by unwavering dedication and a profound love for both his family and his community. 
Alex is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Elsie, whose steadfast support, and affection formed the cornerstone of their shared life. Their enduring bond stands as a testament to the resilience of love and partnership. Alex's practical wisdom, laughter, and cherished moments will forever live on in the hearts of Elsie, his son Keith, Keith's wife Christie and their grandson Bryce. 
Alex is preceded in death by his son Matthew Joseph, his father, Curtis Lunsford, and his mother, Lura Lindsey and his two brothers and one sister, their lives woven together by shared experiences and memories that will forever echo in their hearts. 
A faithful member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Lakewood, CO, where Alex found solace and community through his devout faith. His spiritual devotion was complemented by active engagement within the church, particularly with the St. Jude Prime Timers group. 
Beyond his spiritual community, Alex dedicated his time and energy to NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association). Additionally, he found joy and camaraderie as a bass singer of the MoutainAires Barbershop Group for 22 years, where he shared his love for music. He was also active as Treasurer for 8 years writing a successful grant application to the Scientific Cultural Facilities District which began a string of yearly grants to the organization from the district. 
Professionally, Alex's journey led him to become an accomplished Electrical Engineer. He lent his expertise to the Western Area Power Administration and various other projects throughout his career. Among his notable achievements was the creation of a widely recognized software program named SLIB77, utilized across the United States. 
The memory of Alex will forever be cherished by those fortunate enough to have known him, as his legacy lives on through his family, friends, and the lives he touched along his journey. 
A Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 10:00 am, Funeral Mass, 11:00 am, both on August 29, 2023, at St Jude Catholic Church, 9405 West Florida Ave., Lakewood, CO 80232. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in commemorating an exceptional man who indelibly marked the lives of all he encountered.
