With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alex Budzynski, aged 46, on February 23, 2024. Alex left us peacefully after a valiant battle with brain cancer, surrounded by love at his childhood home. Born on September 19, 1977, to Tim and Vilma Budzynski, Alex's life was a testament to resilience, joy, and the deep bonds of family. A beloved brother to Allison Dempsey (Jack), and adored uncle to Isla, Alex's quiet confidence and unwavering perseverance touched all who knew him.
Alex graduated from Columbine High School and the University of Colorado Boulder where he earned a degree in economics and international relations. He was a founding member of the CU Boulder chapter of the Sigma Pi fraternity and was affectionately known as "Budz." His fraternity brothers became lifelong friends. Alex's journey took him from Colorado to Boston and abroad to Luxembourg, enriching his life with experiences and friendships. Upon returning to Colorado, his thirst for knowledge led him to earn a master's degree in information systems from CU Denver, a remarkable feat given his health challenges.
Alex's passion for the great outdoors was evident in his love for hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking, paddling in dragon boat contests, rock climbing, and more. His spirit soared in the mountains, and his adventures reflected his deep appreciation for nature. An Eagle Scout, Alex embodied the values of integrity, leadership, and community service. His legacy includes not only the trails he explored and the mountains he conquered but also the lives he touched with his kindness, courage, and zest for life.
Alex's love for music and his remarkable resilience shone brightly through his involvement with the Aphasia Chorale, where he sang and played the ukulele with joy and determination. Despite the challenges following a stroke in 2018, his music brought comfort and inspiration to those who loved him. Additionally, his celebration of life's moments, especially dancing at weddings, reminded us all to cherish each day and the connections we share.
He leaves behind a loving family and a community of extended family and friends who were blessed to know him. Alex's journey was marked by bravery, love, and an unyielding spirit. His legacy will forever inspire us to find joy in every day, to embrace the beauty of the world around us, and to live life to the fullest.
