Jean spent her childhood in Kingman, KS and graduated from Kingman High School in 1958. She maintained many close relationships with her classmates over the years enjoying reunions and lunches together. She received her Associates Degree from Wichita University majoring in Business, and was employed at South Central Telephone Association in Medicine Lodge where she was a billing clerk for over 20 years before retiring.
Jean married Keith Kaufman in Kingman, KS on June 19, 1960. They lived their early married years in Kingman, KS and South Haven, KS before moving to Medicine Lodge in 1966. Jean is survived by her two children, Alan (Susan) Kaufman of Bedford, TX and Julie (Carol) Kaufman of Arvada, CO; two granddaughters Kristen (Evan) Jarrett and Kelli (Andrew) Twedell both of Grapevine, TX; three beautiful great- grandchildren, Kynlee Paige, Jett Alan, and Charlee Grace. She has been blessed with a number of first and second generations of nieces and nephews.
Jean loved her First Christian Church and Medicine Lodge communities and spent much of her time serving both. She was a member of many various organizations including the First Christian Church Women’s Outreach, Beta Sigma Phi, Red Hat Society, Country Club Pitch Cards, and the Medicine Lodge Housing Authority. Jean also had other “loves” including sunflowers, playing train dominoes with her family and friends, watching sports, especially the KU Jayhawks basketball, and baking cookies. Her most cherished love and joy was that for her God, her immediate and extended families, and her dear friends in Medicine Lodge.
Viewing will be from 9:00 am – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 28th at Larrison Mortuary in Medicine Lodge with family receiving guests from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
