Your wings were ready,

But our Hearts were not…

RONALD ALLEN DUNSMORE

JANUARY 17, 1951 – MARCH 4, 2021

Ron Dunsmore was born on January 17, 1951 in Denver, Colorado and passed on March 4, 2021.   He spent his early years growing up in Aurora and south Denver.  Ron graduated from George Washington High School in 1969 where he met his lifelong partner Patty.  Ron went to college at Metropolitan State College in Denver and graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Art.  He married his wife, Patty, in August of that year.

Ron worked in retail, but he truly found his calling in education.  He taught for Jefferson County Public Schools for over 20 years in Special Education and even after he retired, he was frequently called to substitute.  Ron’s passion was working with children and adults with disabilities.  This included giving a lot of his time working with Special Olympics.  He also was active with the City of Lakewood Citizens Academy and FBI Citizens Academy.

Ron originally joined George Washington Lodge in 1977 then transferred to Black Hawk Masonic Lodge in 2012.  He has been a member of the Denver Scottish Rite Consistory for 41 years, joining in 1980.  During this time, he was very active and received his red hat.    Noble Ron became a member of El Jebel Shrine on December 8, 1980.  He held various positions at El Jebel including being an aide for many Potentates and at the time of his death, Ron was serving as 1st Ceremonial Master on the Divan.  Ron could be found working and also holding offices with many of the units within El Jebel including Arab Patrol, Computer Club, Directors Staff, Dune Buggy Patrol, Medical Staff, Optars, Pipe Band, and Provost Guard.  Ron was a member of the $100 Million Dollar Club showing his support for Shriners Hospitals for Children.  He strongly believed in the hospitals and the help they continue to give to children.

Pipe Bands were one of Ron’s loves.  He served as a tenor drummer with Michaël Collen’s Pipe Band and was also active with Colorado Youth Pipe Band and El Jebel Pipe Band.  He also loved photography and would work for hours with children to get that perfect picture or spend a day at the zoo waiting for an animal to move to a particular location.

Ron is survived by his wife, Patty, who was his best friend for over 50 years and his sister-in-law Betty.   He will be missed by all of us.
