Qinghong Zhang

November 11, 1968 — March 5, 2016

Qinghong Zhang, an associate professor at University of Colorado School of Medicine, passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2016. She was 47. Qinghong was born on November 11, 1968 in Wanxian, Sichuan Province of China. She received her Bachelor's degree from University of Science and Technology of China in 1991 and her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in May 1997. She lived in Portland, Oregon between 1998 and 2008 and moved to Denver in August 2008 as an assistant professor in the Department of Dermatology at the Anschutz Medical Campus of the University of Colorado - Denver. Qinghong was a dedicated scientist; she spent most of her career studying the links between transcription regulators and various diseases such as cancer, hoping to contribute to finding a cure. Her hard work and dedication are truly inspirational. Qinghong was a devoted mother, a loving wife, and a caring friend and colleague. She loved gardening; she decorated her home and office with many plants and flowers. Qinghong also enjoyed cooking, hiking, and traveling, and she was the happiest when amongst her family and friends. She will be truly missed and lives on in our hearts and memories. Qinghong is survived by her husband, Bingjie Miao, and their two children, Matthew and Mable. Death Is Nothing At All by Henry Scott Holland Death is nothing at all, I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you; whatever we were to each other, that, we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used, put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we shared together. Let my name ever be the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well. Qinghong's visitation and service will be held at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, CO 80014. A viewing and celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 18, 3-5 PM. Funeral Service will begin at 10 AM on Saturday, March 19. A reception will follow at the HeartLight Center on the Horan & McConaty campus.
