John Steven Cassaday (Steve) passed away on the 14th of March, 2023. He was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on December 17, 1954, to Regina and John Cassaday. Steve is survived by his wife Linda, his sister Jana Cassaday-Madara, his brother Barry Cassaday, and his two goddaughters MacKenna and Shelby Norris.
As the son of an Air Force Senior Master Sergeant, Steve grew up in Alabama, Alaska, and many points in between. He attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, and it was there that he met Linda. They married in July 1978, and lived a life built on love and laughter.
In addition to being a small business owner, Steve spent many years as an adjunct professor in business management at Red Rocks Community College.
These are the details of Steve’s life. But a life is measured by more than details. If it is true that the value of a person’s life is measured by the number of people they touch in living it, Steve was a wealthy man. He was happiest when surrounded by friends, not as the center of attention but as the one who drew others into the center. He asked about their kids, he asked about their hobbies, he asked where they were from, and he always found some common connection. He was at his happiest when standing on the patio, surrounded by friends, telling stories, barbequing a variety of meats (because one was never enough) on one of his beloved Weber grills (because one was never enough), and listening to bluegrass music…pure heaven for this child of the South.
He will be missed by all who loved him, and we are all richer for having known him.
A service in celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, March 18th, at 2:00 pm, at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home at 3101 S. Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado (303-986-9615). An on-line guest register is available at www.horancares.com.
