Joe (Ulysses) Lucero
Born on November 10, 1937 in Folsom, New Mexico where he graduated in Des Moines, New Mexico. Joe oved playing basketball and loved Baloney sandwiches; because of this they called him the “Baloney Kid”.
He met and fell in love with Alice Trujillo from Raton, New Mexico. They were married and had four children, Donald Joe, Diane Germain, Doreen Suzanne, and David George.
Joe’s greatest pleasures were spending time with family and serving his fellow men volunteering at Presentation Catholic Church in the St. Vincent De Paul Society and he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. During the holiday season, he also headed the Christmas basket program.
Later in life, golf was his greatest pleasure. He worked and played at Willis Care Golf Course, but he also golfed at most of the golf courses around the Denver area.
Preceded in death by his wife, Alice; son, David; daughter, Doreen; great grandson, Michael Jr.; great infant, Laura Irene; his parents, George Lucero and Maria DeJesus (Chavez) Lucero; siblings, G.A. Lucero, Mary Elizabeth (Chadela) Jaramillo, Gilbert John Lucero, and Ernesto C. Lucero.
Survived by his children, Don and Diane; siblings, George A. Lucero, Mary Viola (Vi) Simpson, Starr Padilla, Frank Lucero, and Linda Ditlevsen; grandkids, Michael J., Anessa D., Estevan Morello, and David M. Buckner; great grandkids, Luke Austin, Kaitlyn Rose, Zahra Suzanne LaVern, Cameron, Penelope, Nevaeh, and Keylee.
Life on Earth ended February 10th 2022. Joe passed in his own home with loved ones by his side, a good sending to his next journey.
