Phillip Pettus

August 23, 1953 — May 15, 2022

Phillip Pettus passed away May 15, 2022, at the age of 68 after suffering complications from colon cancer. Despite the pain, exhaustion, and other terrible things that accompany cancer, he stayed positive and was determined to beat it. He may have ultimately lost the battle, but he put up a heck of a fight.

As one of six children of a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force, Phil lived many different and interesting places including France, Alaska, Texas, and finally Missouri. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from University of Missouri and became a CPA in Kansas City. After a few years, he moved his family to Cheyenne, Wyoming where he became the Chief Financial Officer of St. Vincent DePaul Hospital until he decided he wanted to be his own boss. He obtained a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Colorado and set off to find a business. He found it in Preferred Mobile Nurses, Inc. where he successfully ran it for over 20 years.

He is survived by and will be dearly missed by his family and many friends who loved him. He will be especially missed by his two dogs, KC and Buster, and his two granddaughters who loved to play with him and snuggle up on the couch to watch a movie when he visited. Although he will be dearly missed, we take comfort in the fact that he finally has time to fly fish and root for the Colorado Avalanche and the Kansas City Chiefs in heaven.

A private viewing will take place May 21, 2022, followed by a memorial service in Kansas City to be determined by the family at a later date.
