Joseph "Joe" O'Connor

Joseph “Joe” Patrick O’Connor, 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully January 20, 2021. Joe was born in Juniata, Pennsylvania on May 27, 1933, the son of James R. and Alice Ruth Sheehan O’Connor.

When Joe was 17 he joined the Air Force and after 21 years retired as a Chief Master Seargant. He was the youngest E9 in the Air Force, promoted after 17 years in the service. He was NCO of the year at the Air Force Academy in 1963. He served in many locations, including the Air Force Academy, Hawaii and Vietnam. Upon retiring, he worked as a real estate broker and land developer.

On March 17, 1977, Joe married Virginia “Ginny” Coy and they enjoyed 44 years of a fabulous marriage. Joe was a charming, handsome, intelligent, dapper, caring, charismatic, fine gentleman and fun-loving Irishman. He will never be forgotten and will be missed by many.

His children from a previous marriage are: Joseph Patrick O’Connor, Michael O’Connor, Anne O’Connor, Kathleen Fults, and Lila Burns; there are four grandchildren, Kara Fults, Joe Larsen, Charlie O’Connor and Lila Bailey; and nine great grandchildren. He was predeceased by son, Patrick; daughter, Lila; and five brothers and sisters.

A Viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12 Noon, on Wednesday, January 27th, at Horan & McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave., Aurora, CO  80014, followed by a Funeral Mass and Eulogy at 12 Noon.

Due to Covid restrictions, a private Military service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 1:30pm.
