Obituary

Arturo Patino
23 August 1954 - 7 April 2018
Arturo Patino passed away on April 7, 2018 after a short illness. He was born in New York, New York to Ruffo and Camila (Rodriguez) Patino. He graduated high school and entered the US Air Force in 1973. He served 20 years in the US Air Force retiring in 1993. He was trained as a Site developer, engineering technician, and combat civil engineer. Arturo was stationed at Hurlburt Field FL (twice), Germany, George AFB CA, Kunsan AB Korea, and Lowry AFB CO. He was extremely proud of his service, particularly his two tours with the Air Force’s combat civil engineers (RED HORSE).

During his service, Arturo was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal (two bronze oak leaf clusters), the Air Force Achievement Medal (one bronze oak leaf cluster), the Air Force Good Conduct Medal (silver oak leaf cluster), National Defense Service Medal (bronze star device), the Humanitarian Service Medal for work during the Vietnamese Refugee Rescue efforts, and numerous other military ribbons and awards.

After retiring from the Air Force was employed by several local engineering companies and Arapahoe County an engineer technician and contract inspector.

Arturo was a voracious reader and an amateur historian. He mentored young men in the neighborhood providing guidance and acted as a sounding board during difficult times. He was known for his sense of humor and love of history and political discussions. He enjoyed listening to Motown music and working in his backyard. He was loving husband, good father, good friend, and cherished loyalty, honesty, and integrity

He was a diehard New Yorker and rooted for whichever team that wasn’t the Red Sox. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Anne Poulsen Patino, and son Roberto Alejandro Patino, Aurora CO, his mother, Camila Rodriguez Patino, Bronx NY, four sisters, Rosalia Lougheed (Tamarac FL), Pilar Patino (New York NY), Inez Patino Gomez (Brewster NY) and Marina Patino Cruz (Mohegan Lake NY). Mr. Patino has five nephew; Domingo Lebron and Gustavo Lebron (New York NY), Javier Gomez (Brewster NY), Daniel Gomez (New Fairfield CT), and Kenneth Lougheed (Tamarac FL). He also is survived by a daughter, Christina Patino Morton, and a grandson, Lars Morton, both of Philadelphia PA, and many friends who loved him dearly. He is predeceased by his father, Ruffo Patino, and a younger infant brother, Gilberto.
