Bruce was born in West Hollywood California and brought to Colorado when he was 6 months old by his father Frederick Oscar and his mother Elizabeth (Stillwaugh) Dahlen and he stayed in Colorado the remainder of his life. In his younger years, he was a member of the Boy Scouts and attained Eagle Scout status. He was a 1949 graduate of Denver South High School. In 1951 he joined the US Marine Corps and served in the Korean War until 1953. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sgt.
He attended the University of Denver on the GI bill and earned his BS in Business Administration in 1955. He owned his own business "Distributors Specialist" for 26 years. Afterwards he worked at Air Methods until he retired at the age of 79.
He married Dolores Marie McMullen in 1956. They enjoyed traveling with Ports Of Call and visited many beautiful places around the world. He was a certified scuba diver and an avid golfer. He teed it up every Saturday morning at Pinehurst Country Club with the same golf foursome for 40 years.
Bruce began skiing when he was young and became a member of the Loveland Volunteer National Ski Patrol for 13 years and served as Patrol Director during that time. He enjoyed watching his two children (Chris and Penny) ski race with the Loveland Ski Race Club. He continued to ski into his late 70's and his last ski day was with his grandson Ian.
In his later years, every morning he would walk his beloved little white dog "Lilly" around the Stone House in Lakewood. You couldn't miss the man in his Red Marine Corp cap or his Bronco hat. He was an avid Broncos and Colorado Rockies fan.
He was a good man who lived and loved life and never lost his sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and step sister (Donna Gauthier). He is survived by his wife Dolores of 61 years, a son Christopher (Companion Kimberlee Dobbs) of San Diego, a daughter Penny of Steamboat Springs, and grandson Ian and granddaughter Astraia, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Lilly.
