Tom Patrick Ridgeway, a Project Controls Engineer and native of Denver, Colorado, passed away on September 13th, 2017 at 10:30 P.M. at the age of 60 after a yearlong battle with throat cancer.

Tom is survived by his children; Andrew, Daniel and Hanna Ridgeway, his brothers; Daniel (Claudia), Robert, Patrick (Katie) and James (Elena) Ridgeway, his nieces; Edith, Maria, Nora and Gina, his nephews; Kendric, Tom, Quinn and Franklin and his fiancé; Nicoleta-Liliana Turcu. He is preceded in death by his parents; Joseph and Patricia Ridgeway, his younger brother; Vincent Ridgeway and his sister-in-law; Christine McGuire-Ridgeway.

Tom was born in Denver, Colorado on May 25th, 1957 to Joseph and Patricia Ridgeway. He was the third of six children. He attended Mullen High School, where he made a name for himself as a talented football player, and graduated in 1975. He received a degree in Construction Management from Colorado State University in 1982.

Tom married Renea Anne Riley on April 2nd, 1988. The couple had their first son, Andrew Joseph Ridgeway, on November 6th, 1988. On March 9th, 1990 and March 31st, 1991 respectively, they welcomed their second child, Daniel Patrick Ridgeway, and their third child, Hanna Jeane Ridgeway, into their lives.

Tom moved to Boise, Idaho in 1992, where he worked as a Project Manager for Morrison Knudsen. In 1997, he moved his family to Katmandu, Nepal, where he worked as a Project Manager on the Kaligandaki Hydroelectric Project. In 2002, Tom and his family moved back to Boise, Idaho, where they re-joined the St. Mark’s Parish and enrolled all three children at Bishop Kelly High School.

One year later, Tom, now single, moved overseas and worked on a variety of construction projects in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, where he met a talented engineer from Romania, Nicoleta-Liliana Turcu. Tom and Nico moved back to Denver in 2016, when Tom was diagnosed with cancer in his throat. Tom and Nico got engaged shortly after moving back to Denver and were planning to get married sometime in the fall of 2017.

Tom was a gifted athlete and a devoted, loving father. He enjoyed football and whitewater rafting. He traveled to dozens of different countries in South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He was a friendly, generous man who mentored many younger colleagues and formed lifelong friendships wherever he went. Tom was a devout Catholic who never wavered in his belief that humanity is inherently good and that God is infinitely merciful. He will be deeply missed by his family and his many friends all around the world.
