Obituary

Donald Alan Tate, age 68, died at his home in Henderson, NV with his family by his side. After a lengthy battle with kidney disease, heart disease and diabetes, he was able to spend his final hours at home with his family, which is exactly what he wanted.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Kathy (Craft) Tate; his children: Geno Tate, Jeannelle Thrasher (yes, Geno has a sister), daughter-in-law Brooke Thrasher; brother and sister-in-law: Karen McMechen, Doug McMechen; Nieces: Anna Marie Dalbotten, Brittney Lynn Craft, and Lilie Ann Craft; as well as some very close life-long friends.

He was a loving and gentle man to those who knew him, but was often misunderstood as grumpy by others. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke it was from the heart. If he gave you a hard time or a nickname, know that he liked you. He loved his family, sports, cooking, and singing loudly along to only certain words of some great 60’s and 70’s songs. He loved finding new and obscure hole-in-the-wall restaurants and dragging his family along on the adventure of finding them. He connected with animals, even those that he claimed he hated (cats), and had a way of speaking with them (or for them) that can only be described as ‘interesting’.

Services will be held at Horan & McConaty at Wadsworth and Yale on Wednesday 8/30 at 9 am with a gathering to follow. All who knew and loved him are welcome.
