Obituary

Marcia Cox Vaughey died in Denver, CO on January 16, 2017, after fighting vigorously for 25 years against Ataxia, a disabling deterioration of motor control (degenerative neurological condition). She was born on August 12, 1943 in Sewickley, PA and attended Havergal College in Toronto, Canada and Wells College in Aurora, NY. During her fruitful lifetime, Marcia lived in Sewickley, PA; Toronto, Canada; New York City; Greenwich, CT; Jackson, MS; and Denver, CO.

Marcia moved to Denver with her husband, John, in 2003. She is survived by John, her busband of 50 years, their three children, Parker Vaughey of Princeton, NJ; Stafford Meyer and Tyler Vaughey both of Bronxville, NY; and by their three spouses and eight grandchildren.

In MS, Marcia and John were heavily involved in support of educational advancement at all levels, and after moving to Denver, both admired and supported the Denver Scholarship Foundation and the ACE Scholarships program.

A memorial event will be held later in 2017 at a date to be determined, in the Northeast where her children and grandchildren all live. Marcia was a wise and loving mother, a devoted grandmother and a wonderful wife. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made in Marcia's name to the National Ataxia Foundation, 2600 Fernbrook Lane, Suite 119, Minneapolis, MN 55447.
