Dee was born in Sandusky, Ohio on November 5, 1919 and passed away in Denver on July 13, 2016. She was the daughter of Andrew F. Harris and Leila Parker Harris.

Her father, who came to the Colorado territory in the 1870s, was one of the founders of Dolores, Colorado. Dee graduated as valedictorian of her high school class at age 16, then attended the University of Colorado. She graduated in 1940 with a B.A. in English.

She met Howard W. (Stan) Steninger on a blind date at a CU-DU football game. They married during World War II on December 3, 1942 -- the start of a 63-year marriage. She and Stan raised three children, Howard W. Steninger Jr., Los Angeles; Susan D. Phillips, Denver, and John A. (Morna McCabe) Steninger, Denver. Morna became the glue of the family and Dee's essential friend.

Dee worked 25 years as a secretary, retiring from Marathon Oil Research Center in Littleton. In later years, Dee and Stan thrived on travel, visiting nearly 80 non-landlocked countries, and doting on their three grandchildren, Matthew, Clare and David Steninger. She was loved and will be missed.

A burial service will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery (staging area B) at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 1. A celebration of Dee's life will be held afterwards. Please contact the family for details.
