Vi Mares

Vi passed away Friday, January 20, 2017. She was born on September 12, 1929, one of ten siblings to Paul and Flora (Vigil) Padilla of La Junta, CO. Vi was preceded in death by her siblings, Jake, Louise, Oliver, Ervin, Alice, Frances, Albert, Bea, and Bertha. Vi married Albert Mares Jr. of Denver in 1958. She is survived by her husband, Al, daughter Billie Helwick (Mark), and son, David Mares, of Denver. She is survived by three grandchildren: Andrea Haney (Bill), Jon Helwick (Carly), and Nikki Russell (Norman). She was blessed to know and spend time with her great-grandchildren, Ian, Cael, Marin, Brody, Beau, and Rhett. Vi and Al owned several restaurants in Denver. They loved sports of all kinds and were the largest season ticket holders in Denver Broncos history. There will be a celebration of her life at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 2190 South Sheridan Blvd., Denver Colorado.
