Skipper Dolan

August 3, 1981 — February 4, 2017

Skipper Dolan, of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away on February 4, 2017, at the age of 35. Skipper Dolan was born on August 3, 1981 in Pueblo, CO. He quickly came to Denver and in late October 1981 The Dolan Family was blessed to have him join our ranks where he stayed the rest of his life. He was an angel to our Mom Maggie Dolan, and the Best Buddy to our Dad, Larry Dolan. To Skipper's sister's he was a joy and a brother we adored, fought for, and protected for as long as God let him be with us! He was raised in Arvada, attended Spirit of Christ Catholic Church, and graduated from Standley Lake High School in Westminster, CO in 2001. Skipper was special in more ways then we could ever wrap our hearts around. He had friends everywhere he went, and was always the kindest bravest man you would ever hope to know. From helping the Audio/Visual Team at Church, to delivering Meals on Wheels to those that needed it, he brought joy to those he touched. He loved funny movies, butter popcorn, Police Officers and Firemen, whom he affectionately called his ""Buddies"", even convincing our Father to bring him for frequent visits to the Fire Station whenever he could, and going on ride alongs with Police Officers who once staged a Robbery so Skipper could arrest ""The Bad Guy"". He was so proud of that day! Barney was permanently fixed to Skip's side for the first half of his life, only later to be embrace Mickey and Kermit. Where Skip went, they went too. He was a huge WWF fan, he couldn't wait every summer to attend Easter Seals Camp for a week, he'd eat McDonald's cheeseburgers with fries every chance he could, had the best laugh, and most of all...our brother loved to DANCE! His dream job was to be a DJ, in fact he even became a regular guest on a Denver Radio Station talking about life, girls, whatever sounded fun. Wherever Skip went he left having made new friends. He was a Special Olympian having won 4 Gold and 1 Silver Medal in a single years competition. We were so proud of him! He loved to bowl, and was part of a Team he joyously cheered on week after week. His greatest joy was the latest Electronics. He just naturally knew how to use them better then most of us! He was incredible to watch on his computer, always followed his Buddies on his police scanners, and simply recording everyday life. His biggest delight was his cam-corder, he loved to document life around him, only to watch his recordings later, over and over again. He enjoyed sharing how he saw things with all of us lucky enough to be his audience. We who love him have a treasure of memories to try and comfort ourselves with. As they say, ""Heaven has gained a new Angel"" and that can never be disputed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry & Maggie Dolan. Skipper is survived by his siblings, Maryanne (Michael), Patricia (Phil), Maureen (Mike) & Steven; nieces and nephews, Meghan (Thomas), Maricathryn, Jace, & Mia; great nephew, Paxton; and loving caretakers, David Davis & Kelly Lafave. Memorial Services honoring Skipper will be Friday, February 10, 2017, beginning at 1:00 PM, at Spirit of Christ Catholic Church Chapel, 7400 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado 80003.
