Sean Cavanagh

July 7, 1957 — April 6, 2016

Mr. Sean Cavanagh, age 58, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Betty Cavanagh, and is survived by his siblings, Colleen ""Heather"" Luehrs, her husband Tom Luehrs, and their children, Marina, Faith, Joe and Maggie; his brother Michael Cavanagh, his wife Mary Cavanagh, and their children, Mattie and Jack; and his sister Megan Cavanagh and her husband, Michael Franson. Sean received his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado at Denver and his MBA from the University of Colorado. He then went on to become a Chartered Financial Analyst (the CFA program covers a large range of financial topics and is considered one of the most prestigious professional designations in the field, taking an average of four years to earn). As a CFA, Sean formed his own financial advising company, Cavanagh Capital Management, in Centennial, Colorado, managing investment portfolios for his clients for over 20 years. Sean was a voracious reader of history, in particular, all details related to WWII. The family has very fond memories of Sean and our father, a WWII veteran, often engaged in discussions regarding the topic. During his younger years, Sean was also a licensed pilot. Unfortunately, due to his health complications, was unable to continue to fly but spoke of his piloting experiences fondly. Sean was generous, loyal and dearly loved by his family and friends. We will miss our brother and friend, but are comforted by warm memories and the knowledge that he is at peace. The memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 11th, at the Washington Park United Church of Christ, 400 S. Williams Street, Denver, CO 80209. Please check the link below, in the near future, for further details regarding the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sean's name to the St. Francis Center, 2323 Curtis Street, Denver, CO 80205; or online at www.sfcdenver.org.
