Scott Morse

Scott Morse, 47, passed away May 30, 2015 after a six-month battle with cancer. Scott is survived by his wife Joni, sons Cameron and Donovan, brother Danen Morse, sister-in-law Hillori, nieces Audrie and Bailey, mother Jamie Mitchell and stepfather Bob Mitchell, father Doug Morse and stepmother Joyce, aunt Nancy Dolan and uncle Pat Dolan, uncle Mike Fitzgerald and aunt Jerry, uncle Pat Fitzgerald and aunt Sandy, uncle Denny Morse, uncle Dale Morse and aunt Jan. He is also survived by cousins John Dolan, Jenny Taylor, Tim Fitzgerald, Ryan Fitzgerald, Sean Fitzgerald, Kate Ackman, Jeff Morse, Dean Morse, Alanna Morse, Alyssa Morse and Adam Morse. He is preceded in death by grandparents Lloyd and Betty Morse, as well as James and Cecile Fitzgerald. Scott lived in the Denver area his entire life, having grown up in the Washington Park neighborhood. He graduated from Denver's South High School in 1985 where he had excelled in academics and sports, having played varsity basketball, baseball, football and tennis. Next he attended Arizona State University and Metropolitan State University, earning a computer science degree in 1989. During his college years, Scott played baseball and began working at Platte Canyon Water & Sanitation District where he worked his entire career. After college, Scott continued to play sports with friends, namely fast-pitch softball for several years with the Red Feathers, a team coached by one of his mentors, Darryl Hogan, Sr. In 1992, Scott met Joni Hutchins and they married in 1994. The couple moved in 1996 to Highlands Ranch in Douglas County where they had two sons, Cameron, born in 1998 and Donovan, born in 2001. Scott cherished family life and friendships above all else. He enjoyed helping his sons with math and science homework and loved coaching their sports teams for many years. He was a teacher at heart, known for his quiet, encouraging demeanor, his sense of humor and cheerful smile. Scott was loved by many.
