March 12, 1932 — December 7, 2017

Rita Medina Arellano of Denver, CO passed away after a short illness on December 7, 2017 at her home of 49 years surrounded by her husband, Juan Arellano and children. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 2190 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, CO. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a. m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Notre Dame Catholic Church. Burial will be at 1:15 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Horan & McConaty 3101 South Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80227. Rita Medina was born on March 12, 1932 to George and Macedonia Medina in Leadville, CO. On August 25, 1947 she was married to Juan B. Arellano at Annunciation Church in Leadville and they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past August. Rita was a homemaker and helped raise her grandchildren, she worked retail and retired from Sears Roebuck. She was a thoughtful and caring person that lived her faith and was grateful for the blessing of her family. The holiday season was her favorite time of year and especially loved her huge Christmas Eve party. She enjoyed being outdoors, going on picnics and showing her grandchildren and great grandchildren how to play ball. She is preceded in death by three children, Nancy and Gary Arellano and Grace Parker; one grandson Ray Alvin Gonzales Jr. in addition to her parents, George and Macedonia Medina, siblings, George and Alfred Medina, Jessie Avila, Gertie Madril , and Eloisa Martinez. She is survived by her husband, Juan Arellano. Her children Diana (Vic) Gonzales, Loretta (Greg) Robles, Leo (DeeAnn) Arellano, Paul Arellano, Bill Parker and Janet (Alvin) Gonzales, sister, Ida Medina of Alamosa, CO and brothers, Vincent (Dora) Medina and Steve Medina and 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be John Gonzales, Jason Romero, Gregory Robles, Karrie Lopezi, Gabriel Elkington, Damien Lopez, Ashley Arellano and Donovan Gonzales.
