Richard ""Rick"" Rapp, 64, of Thornton, Colorado, passed away on December 31, 2016. Rick was born February 26, 1952 in El Paso, Texas to V. Adm. William T. and Catherine A. Rapp. Being part of a military family was a perfect fit for Rick. Moving every few years provided him the opportunity to make many lasting friendships throughout the US and abroad. He participated in several sports, including diving, skiing and playing football and enjoyed golf and swimming well into his adult life. He graduated from Kubasaki High School in Okinawa, Japan in 1970. Rick began his college education at the University of Virginia and graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1976. He loved the mountains and decided to firmly plant his roots in Colorado. His primary career was in real estate, with additional work in financial and insurance planning; he later worked for the State of Colorado as an Assessor for Exempt Properties. In 1980, he married the love of his life, Brenda Rapp, his devoted wife of 36 years. Rick's adventurous spirit provided them with much happiness both in travels and at home. Sharing his quick wit, gift for conversation, and strong zest for life is what he was best known for by friends and new acquaintances alike. His unwavering faith in Christ sustained him through his long illness with MS and was an inspiration to us all. In observing how he lived his extraordinary life with strength and courage we have also been encouraged to face our own challenges in a positive way. Rick is survived by his wife, Brenda; mother, Catherine; brothers, Bill (wife, Carolyn) and Ken (wife, Dedi); extended family including numerous nieces and nephews, and many loving friends and caregivers. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, CO 80229.
