Richard Ottomar Aufdemberge was born on November 25, 1936 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Paul and Meta (Wiegner) Aufdemberge. He was received into the Christian Faith by the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on December of 1936. In his first year, Richard moved with his family to Nebraska, and he spent his boyhood there. Dick attended Concordia Lutheran High School and College in Seward, NE. While there he met his wife of 58 years, Lenore (Norie) Erxleben. They were married on July 19, 1959. Their marriage was blessed with 3 children: Julie, Janet, and Jon. Dick taught and coached in the Lutheran school system for his entire career. He used his artistic talents to design T-shirts, bulletins, banners, Christmas cards, murals, and he carved beautiful crosses and crafted wooden childrenâs toys. He loved to sing and was a member of many choirs, including Denver Lutheran Chorale. All he did reflected his faith in his Lord. This gentle and God fearing man will be missed. Richard fell asleep in the Lord on November 7, 2017, at the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 13 days. Dick is survived by his wife Norie, and his children; Julie(John) Fenton, Jan (Greg) Koenig, and Jon (Melody) Aufdemberge; and 10 grandchildren: Johannah (Bryan) Barhorst, Justine (Joseph) Bossard, Jacqueline (William) Smith, Josef, Jacob, Jillian and James Fenton, Sarah Koenig, Sveta Koenig, and Katya (Chris) Evans; and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Theodore (Ruth) and Victor (Kathy); and his sisters, Maxine (Al) Woelzlein and Grace (Adrian) Hanft; his brother-in-law James (Peggy) Erxleben; and many beloved nieces and nephews. The Lord has given and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the Name of the Lord! Funeral 21 November 2017, 11 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Visitation at 10AM.
